Please note that dogs in our program are only available for adoption to those living in Northern California (North of the Tulare/Kings-Kern and Monterey-San Luis Obispo county line), Oregon border counties and western Nevada (Washoe-Carson City-Douglas counties). Please visit our website www.GPRNC.org for more information. Easton is an approximately 4 year old male working Great Pyrenees. He, his mate Esti and their 7 m/o daughter Eliza came from a sheep ranch and vineyard in Monterey county. They were turned over to GPRNC due to a change in the ranch management and are looking for new homes. We'd like to place him with Esti if possible as he is very shy, possibly was raised 'semi-feral' (limited human contact, an old and outdated way of raising LGDs) and would be happiest out in a field with his stock and a partner LGD or two. He is not comfortable with a lot of human contact nor with being indoors however he can be handled, did very well while under stress at the vet and doesn't mind the occasional ear scratch. He also did well while being groomed although bathing wasn't his favorite activity. He had not had the best 'maintenance' and had to have surgery to remove foxtails (a noxious California weed whose seed 'spikelets' are dangerous and even potentially fatal) from one foot and on his chest.
